How To Travel Around Malaysia

Many people start learning about the basics of traveling around the world in high school or college. However, there are many ways to learn about this. You can book a trip to Asia for yourself and for free!

There are many ways to learn about traveling around the world. You can do it Yourself, by visiting various countries and/or learning about their tourism sectors and/or studying local languages. You can also go to a travel education program, such as a University or College degree program, which offers multiple trips around the world.

This article will talk about some ways to find programs that offer overseas experience, usually mixed with a degree. These programs may be at University level, or they may just have an overseas experience component added at the end.

How much you pay is up to you, of course. There are many free options as well as very affordable ones.

Penang

Penang is one of the most beautiful cities in Malaysia. It’s located on the southern coast, close to Thailand and Singapore. Penang is famous for its coconut trees and colonial architecture.

There are many restaurants along Takuning Road, which is a pedestrian-only street. This is another way to discover Penang!

Many tourists go there just to see the waterfront and Old Town, where you can find historical buildings, night clubs, and of course, restaurants.

Old Town was once a Dutch settlement and a British colony, so you’ll find English-speaking visitors here as well as Chinese and Malay.

Newly built blocks are filled with apartments because of their affordability these days.

Langkawi

Langkawi is a Unesco World Heritage Site, and conveniently, it is just down the highway in Selangor. While most tourists go to Langkawi for its beautiful beaches, you can also visit the cultural precinct, caves, and waterfalls!

Langkawi is a beautiful city with many sights to see. If you have time, take a day to explore both cities together! You can take public buses or boats which depart from Terminal C in Kuala Lumpur’s Mehrabakhian District.

The best way to reach Negara from Kuala Lumpur is via boat or car ferry.

Ipoh

Paddling around the southern part of Malaysia is a great way to spend a day. You can visit beautiful beaches or venture into the jungle to see some wildlife.

Both areas are incredible and will leave you wanting to return. There are many places to explore, so you do not have to!

The main city of Kuala Lumpur is located just north of Ipoh. It has a nice historic district as well as tons of shopping and nightlife.

Known for its ceramics, Kuala Lumpur Ceramics Market is an awesome way to spend time. There are many art galleries, shops, and restaurants that combine together for a unique atmosphere.

If you want more nature-filled sights, check out Kurnia Rainforest or Lampung Regency Nature Reserves. Both have stunning scenery that will leave you wanting to return.

Malacca

The legendary Malacca Sultanate is one of the oldest kingdoms in Malaysia. Located in the state of Malacca, this sultanate ruled over most of southern Malaysia for almost a century.

Many believe that the first Europeans to visit Malaysia were brought there by the sultan! This is due to the presence of Europe-style castles and Hindu-style temples.

Tourists are accustomed to seeing these landmarks, as most Muslims worship inside them. However, these places of worship are not allowed to attract too much attention these days.

As these places of worship are not popular today, tourists can go through unofficial channels to see them. These channels are quite risky, however.

Petronas Towers

The Petronas Towers are located in Kuching, a city in Borneo. It is one of the largest buildings in the world, with a height of 432 m or 1152 ft.

You can go up and see the top at certain times of the year, but not all the time due to weather. You can also visit during business hours and take pictures, but you must be very careful as there is no security!

Businesspeople and professionals travel to Kuching often. The city has an excellent quality of life and a great culture that people enjoy visiting.

Many people go up to the Petronas Towers at sunset to experience how beautiful it is with dark clouds covering the sky and stars shining through.

Historic sites

If you’re visiting Malaysia for the first time, you should consider spending some time at some of its historic sites. These sites are a testament to humanity and are UNESCO World Heritage Sites!

Many of them have museums and tourist attractions that are open during the weekends. It is a good idea to check if they’re open before you come because some of them do close for maintenance sometimes.

Aside from being educational, going to these sites can be spiritually fulfilling as well. By visitin gthem, you will also be contributing to the country’s economy as tourism revenues rise.

Food paradise

If you’re up for a food paradise, you should go to Penang. Penang is the capital of Malaysia and has a fantastic food scene. There are so many restaurants and stalls offering exotic foods that you will never see everywhere in Malaysia!

Many of these specialties are Iban specialties, so if you are a fan of Iban cooking, this is the place to go. There are many Iban restaurants all over the city, and they all have good reasons to be popular.

There’s always something new chefs are trying to experiment with, and since we were both hungry and wanted to try something new, we headed to Kitchen Imaginarium. The staff was very helpful in teaching us how to use their kitchen equipment and introduce ourselves as cookware owners.

Nature parks

If you’re looking for some nature time, you should visit one of the many nature parks in Malaysia. There are many natural parks all over the country, so it is just a matter of choosing the one you want to visit.

Most nature parks have beautiful trails and waterfalls, so if you’re into that kind of thing. These parks also have notable animals like elephants, tigers, and lions.

However, keep in mind that visiting an animal park is not recommended if you are not experienced with wildlife or if you are not a fan of seeing animals like leopards or crocodiles.

Visiting an animal park is considered casual exercise and can help improve your cardio and Strength Training abilities, but doing some research first is important.
