Places To Visit In Osaka

Osaka is a large city with many places to visit and explore. While smaller cities such as Nara, Takamatsu, and Kobe can be visited in a day, places like Kyoto and Osaka are worth a stay for several days.

Osaka has several districts that are worth visiting, including Minuma, Chūōkōtōnishi-cho, Kiyamachi-ku, and Higashikoyo-ku. These areas have unique neighborhoods that are worth checking out.

Minuma is located south of the Shinbashi highway and features beautiful scenery throughout the area. Check out the Onsen Keido line train route at Kiyamachi Station to reach this area in under an hour!

Chūōkōtōnishi-cho is located north of the Shinbashi highway and features some interesting neighborhoods such as Hachijo Island Park and Hakurei Kotai. There are also some cute old houses you can rent to add more character to your trip.

Kiyamachi-ku is located in the northern part of Osaka and features some historic districts such as Nakanoshima and Arima Castle.

Namba

If you want to see some of the best temples and shrines in Osaka, Namba is the place to do it. There are many temples and shrines in Namba, so you will have a hard time finding a specific temple or shrine.

However, due to its central location in Osaka, Namba has become very popular with tourists. This has led to overzealous tourists showing up on weekdays during lunch and dinner hours.

This can be problematic at times, as there may be several people trying to visit the same temple at the same time. Tourists can be very invasive as they look over everything and try to find the best entrance into each temple.

Shinsaibashi

A quintessential neighborhood in Osaka, Shinsaibashi is a short walk from most neighborhoods and places. It features small businesses, restaurants, and social spaces that blend in with the rest of the neighborhood.

You will also find a lot of young people in Shinsaibashi, which makes it a good place to visit at night. There are many bars and clubs located here that have nice decor and great live music.

Shinsaibashi is also very convenient to major sights like Namba Park and Aoyama-jin Tower. If you are looking for something different, check out theteeshops found in this neighborhood. They may not be large, professional-looking stores, but you will get an authentic local feel.

Dotonbori

Dotonbori is one of the city’s most famous districts. This area is known for its meaty and sweet treats, such as ice cream and savory pastry.

The area is also home to one of Osaka’s major universities, so you’ll find lots of interesting places to eat here.

Many of the restaurants here are open until late at night so you can spend some time in the district after work or during your stay.

There are many places to visit in Dotonbori, so we suggest you make a few stops before you head out. The first two neighborhoods you should visit are Higashimukae-ku and Shin-Osaka City, referred to as Higashimukae and Shin Osaka City, respectively.

Start your tour at Kinoeisha House, a museum that focuses on traditional Japanese games like sumo and shogi. You can also check out the restaurant next door called Sumo & Shogi Clubhouse.

Tsūtenkaku

Tsūtenkaku is the tallest building in Osaka, rising 483 meters to its top. It was constructed in 1983 and has been a symbol of the city ever since.

At 1,063 meters, Tsūtenkaku is the fourth-tallest building in Japan and the seventh-highest structure in the world. It’s also one of only a handful of skyscrapers over 1,000 meters in the world.

Tsūtenkaku was originally going to be called Tokyo Tower, but because it’s located so close to Osaka City Hall, it was renamed. It also houses an observation deck that offers incredible views of Osaka and Japan.

Another interesting fact about Tsūtenkaku is that it once served as a route for military communication systems.

Japan Science Museum

A museum devoted to all things science, Japan Science Museum is an easy place to visit as a family.

At just over 1 kilometre, the museum is NOT short! It can be visited in a single sitting or in multiple visits.

Most of the exhibits are accessible to all ages, but there are some that are more for younger visitors. Many of them focus on robotics and engineering and introduce young users using easy-to-understand displays.

The one big draw at this museum is that it has so many different exhibits that you will never see same on every visit! You will have to go in search of your next favorite thing.

Osaka Museum of History

If you’re looking for a unique and informative place to visit in Osaka, the Osaka Museum of History is a good choice.

With over 200 locations around the world, museums offer plenty of information and education. However, they can become very boring and/or too lengthy to be of use while on vacation.

At only €12 ($15) per person, there is no high cost to this museum. Visiting it with your group is an excellent way to gain more information and see more of the city.

Tennōji Park

Tennōji Park is a large park located in downtown Osaka, set next to the Nippon Astech Building. The park has a large lake, beautiful monuments, and beautiful architecture set around scenic areas.

The closest subway station is Tennōji-dai, which is located right next to the lake. Tennōji-dai is the central hub for all of the monuments in the park as well as an entry point into the lake.

Another cool thing about Tennosaid Park is that it has been used as a military base during World War II. This makes it very important to remember your history when visiting this beautiful place!

One of the most popular places to visit in and around Tennosaid Park are the monuments. Each one represents a different historical figure and features interactive panels where you can answer some questions about them.

Shitennō-zawa Park

A hidden park tucked away in the densely populated Bluff Street area is Shitennō-zawa Park. Consisting of over 50 islands, this lush green space is home to many species of plants and animals that live there.

It was created as a place for people to go and enjoy nature, so you will not find many trees or other features. However, what makes this park special is the natural forest that exists within it.

You can find trails that wind their way through the forest, which adds some interesting twists and turns to see. One trail even goes all the way around a lake, making it a nice place to take your shoes off!

The park also has some interesting components such as an indigenous shelter and food forest where you can learn about the plant and animal species that live there.
