Travel In Osaka
Osaka is the capital of Japan and its largest city. Located on the river Nihon, Osaka has a long history and is known for its temples, markets, and nightlife.
Osaka has been around for a long time too. It was once called The City Of The Seven Rivers. This refers to the rivers that surround it, including the Nihon River.
The area was home to some of the first human settlements, and was later replaced by rice paddies.
Today, Osaka celebrates its birthday on January 23rd every year, so it is not such a new city anymore! There are still quite a few buildings from when this city was home to some people for hundreds of years before modern civilization came along.
This article will talk about some ways to get out of town and experience this incredible city in person.
Tsūtenkaku Tower
Tsūtenkaku is one of the tallest buildings in Osaka and is also one of its landmarks. Located right downtown at Nihonbashi, it’s fairly easy to find.
The tower was built in the 1960s and has been a landmark ever since. It originally housed a department store, so you will find some shopping centers and department stores inside.
Tsūtenkaku is popular with both locals and tourists, making it an interesting place to visit. You can go up for a beautiful view or just wander the upper levels to stretch your legs.
Being such an important landmark, visitors are warned about climbing Tsūtenkaku too high or too fast as a result. However, this does not seem to affect the climbing experience at all!
Tsūtenkaku is also popular with foreigners due to its height, making it another interesting place to visit.
Nanba Crossing
If you are looking to explore Osaka’s nightlife, then Nanba Crossing is the place for you.
The area consists of several clubs, pubs, and restaurants that come together to form one massive nightclub and restaurant district. It is quite large, so make sure you get your fix!
Nanba is a Japanese word that means bridge or crossing. This district names itself after the many bridges that connect different areas of town.
Many of the clubs and pubs have a dress code, usually a white shirt with no shoes or socks Mandatory for all visitors to this district, especially if you are going out late. Most residents prefer not to be dressed up at all times due to noise pollution and city center stucture.
If you are lucky enough to find a dance floor that is easy to access, then go out and enjoy the night! There are also plenty of chairs if you need help getting ready for the dancefloor.
Eat delicious food
Never worry about starving while living or traveling in Osaka. There are so many delicious foods you can eat, and every neighborhood has its own specialty.
Many restaurants offer delivery and customers can easily go to the store to choose their food. They also have extensive menu options so you are not concerned about being full but having enough food!
Most of the foods sold in shops are Western-style, so you will not find anything that is absolutely amazing, but try your best! Most restaurants offer some kind of compensation plan if you ask, which is nice enough to use even if you do not eat very well.
Osaka Aquarium
If you’re looking for a unique experience, you should try going to the aquarium in Osaka. The aquarium is located in Shijyo-Ku, which is the oldest neighborhood in Osaka.
The area was once a rice field, so you’ll find some interesting structures here. One of them is the Osaka Aquarium, which was once a fish stream. You can find some wonderful fishes both inside and outside of the aquarium.
Another interesting location is Fujisawa Park, which has some beautiful waterfalls. You can also find nice trails there if you’re up for walking!
As the name suggests, Fujisawa Park focuses on flowers! There are places where you can sit and enjoy a nice flower photo! While it may be relaxing just looking at flowers, building enough self-confidence is another thing that comes with going to an flower photo shoot.
Universal Studios Japan
If you are a fan of Universal Studios Japan, you should try visiting Universal Studios Japan. It is one of the top tourist attractions in Osaka, so plan your trip accordingly.
Universal Studios Japan has three parks: One World, Citywalk and Cityplace. All three are located in the western part of Osaka, near Kuwana-dera Station.
One World is closest to Kuwana-dera Station and Cityplace is closest to Nihonbashi-koshijin Station. Both One World and Cityplace have Islands theme parks, but only Island Isle has an Adventure Island theme park like Universal’s does.
Adventure Isle does not have rides or attractions like other Islands do, but it does have a few restaurants and stores for really hungry or thirsty tourists.
Tennōji Park
The Tennōji Park is a large public park in central Osaka. It was originally a imperial burial ground and is filled with many monuments and public spaces.
You can find many interesting places in the park such as Zen temples, restored old neighborhoods, baseball stadiums, and of course, plenty of recreation space.
It is a nice place to spend some time outside getting some exercise or just relaxing. There are many cafes and restaurants near the park so you can also spend some time there if you are not busy exercising or eating your lunch!
The best part about the Tennōji Park is that you can spend hours just wandering around it! You can go as slow or as fast as you want, as there’s not really any enforced time limit.
One thing to watch out for though is littering. While it might be tempting to keep throwing your food or drink at picnic tables, tables and food are limited in size so you have to keep an eye out for them to survive your drinks or table food.
Shinsaibashi Shopping District
A must see in Osaka is the Shinsaibashi Shopping District. Consisting of over a dozen districts located around San-ke-ri station, the Shinsaibashi is home to over 500 shops and offers incredible choices for buying all sorts of things.
Many of these stores are new and upscale, offering top quality products at high prices. Others are more down-market, offering cheap but high quality products. Either way, both types of shops are very easy to find.
Most of them are fairly inconspicuous, with hardly any signs nearby. If you need help finding them, just look for the brightly colored plazas where all the shops meet up.
Sumiyoshi Taisha Shrine
If you’re looking for a beautiful place to visit in Osaka, you should definitely check out the Sumiyoshi Taisha Shrine. This shrine is located in Sumiyoshi-Ku, a district that is known for its historic buildings and temples.
The area was once a rice paddy field, so many of the buildings were made from old rice barns and storage facilities. It is also known for its well-preserved Buddhist temple from the Heian period.
Visitors can tour the temple and spend time inside of it, which is very rare to see outside of a historical site. Many people come here just to admire the beauty of the interior.
Another reason this shrine is so popular is because it is so easy to travel to from Osaka City Centre.
