Be Inspired…by This 80 Year-Old Bodybuilder!



This is Ernestine Shepherd. She was born in 1936. She will be 81 in June. Look at that body! That’s right, it’s time to…

be inspired!

Ernestine started exercising and lifting weights when she was 56 years-old.

56 years-old!

Yes, there is still hope if you haven’t started yet. Of course, you don’t have to become a bodybuilder.¬†You can just get in shape, maybe drop a few pounds, maybe give your joints some rest, maybe just feel a little better in general. You can do it!

Don’t take my word for it, listen to her story right from her:

She is adorable. She’s a real person who made changes for the better. Even though it was hard, even though she didn’t want to, even though she complained and resisted, she still did it.

You must watch the video. Around the 30 minute mark, she actually does a few poses and some push ups (good pushups, not the half-a** pushups using knees, like I do).

  1. I’ve often thought about power lifting because I know as we age, muscle mass declines. This 80 yr old looks amazing but I have doubts about some steroid use?

    1. Yes, definite declines in muscle mass as we age so any type of lifting is good. Anything is possible, of course – so she may have used steroids BUT, if you watch the video, she does seem genuine. In her case, I don’t think so. Although I do think there are people who have bodies that may show results in a greater way than others. She also stresses the importance of her diet. She actually says exactly what she eats, which I think has really helped to give her these amazing results.
