Aging Expectations

Great Customer Service

Here is something fun…Leah and I are taking piano lessons…together!

We go at the same time to the piano teacher’s house. Leah usually lasts for about 15 minutes but the teacher can get 30 minutes out of her. Then it’s my turn. I get the last 30 minutes (or 40 minutes if it’s a bad day).

It’s a lot of fun…no, really. I’m not kidding, it’s fun!

But that’s not what this post is about…

This post is about great customer service (the title might have tipped you off).

I thought it would be fun to get a piano music book of children’s songs that I could play and then Leah would be even more interested. Now, here’s what I know about music…

zero.

Here’s what I know about reading music…

less than zero.

So when I went into the music store, I immediately asked for help. There was a young man working in the “book” area. He asked me what I wanted and I told him my story.

He was really helpful and showed me a bunch of books with beginner music, which I would (probably) be able to play.

I purchased a book and even bought a metronome. Again, the young man was really helpful and showed me a bunch, giving his suggestion as to what might be best for me.

It was a very nice experience. Probably not worthy of a whole post.

Here’s what is though…

customer service

Yep, it’s a thank you card!

I received it a few days later. I thought it was so nice and unexpected. He even noted my daughter and I taking lessons. So amazing! That is great customer service. That is full post worthy.

Do you have any great customer service experiences?

Any not-so-great experiences?

I’d loved to know…so I can experience more great and less not-so-great!

  1. Wow, that really is something! Definitely post worthy, IMO. I notice great customer service, too, whether it’s the person working the fast-food drive-thru who really looks/acts like they enjoy their job or someone who goes that extra mile to get me the item or information I need. And I definitely try to provide the same in my own businesses. I unfortunately had a bad experience recently on an online site similar to Etsy or Ebay (NOT either of them). The seller told us she wasn’t going to be able to fill our order and that she had refunded our money, but our Paypal account didn’t show the refund, even after a few weeks. When I politely emailed her to request that she double-check to make sure the refund went through, she told me I was bothering her and she didn’t have time! The nerve! It’s now in Paypal Dispute Resolution. Argh! But yes, great customer service is definitely worthy of high praise!!!

    1. You are bothering her! Unbelievable! That’s beyond bad service it’s completely bad business!!!

I hope the Paypal Dispute actually resolves the situation.

  2. Wow, that IS good customer service. Don’t find that much these days. And you’ve just inspired me to go play piano. Don’t see that much these days either! Visiting from SITS!

  3. I love nice people–that was seriously so nice of him to send that.

I have had a lot of experience with good customer service, and I think it’s because I try and remember that the person helping me is a person too. So I ask them how their day is going and try to start a conversation with them. They usually respond well, and in turn, I get excellent customer service. A little customer service karma!

    1. Hi there!!
Yes, I totally agree with you. It’s nice to be nice to people and hopefully you get a little in return 🙂

  4. I love great customer service its so hard to find these days I tend to stick to small businesses that offer their services and they remember who you are which is great. This is indeed post worthy. Stopping over from Sharefest
