On the last full day of our Alaskan cruise, the ship pulled up next to the Hubbard Glacier. It was a beautiful site.
We enjoyed seeing it from the main deck and from our private balcony.
Have I mentioned how fantastic having a private balcony is? I can’t recommend it highly enough.
The rest of the day consisted of…
the kids playing cards, enjoying the scenery and watching for wildlife.
Here are some pictures for your viewing pleasure:
I love when I catch my kids having fun together without any of my involvement. It’s adorable and melts my heart, each and every time.
My brother-in-law was amazing at spotting wildlife. Because of his quick sight, we were able to see eagles, orcas, and whales. We didn’t see any bears, reindeer or moose. My husband really wanted to see a moose but it wasn’t meant to be 🙁
That night, we did one last special dinner to further celebrate my in-laws 50th wedding anniversary! We picked the hibachi restaurant. It was an up-charge place but was worth it.
The kids loved watching the chefs make the food with their crazy knife skills and the food was good.
The staff came over with a little cake and sang a love song to my in-laws, which was cute.
That night we had to have our luggage outside of our room before going to bed. They take it overnight. When you leave the ship the next morning, they have all of it waiting with whatever transportation you reserved in advance. We had confirmed a bus to Anchorage.
I was nervous about having all my stuff ready and keeping only what we needed but we managed. I had the bags out on time and didn’t forget anything.
Some advice though, read the documentation they give you the day before…it gives you an assigned color and other important information on what time you need to be ready to leave.
In the morning, when they call your color that’s when you have to depart.
We were one of the last off the boat. We were in the buffet restaurant having a last snack (this was the most empty I’d ever seen the place) when we heard an announcement for our color.
It was earlier than the suggested time so we hustled down to the room, grabbed our stuff, and made our way off the ship to our bus to Anchorage.
Next…Our day in Anchorage!
