As we said good-bye to our cruise ship in Whittier, we got on our tour bus to Anchorage. The first interesting thing I can tell you about is the tunnel, which allows only on direction of traffic through at a time.
Yep, you have to wait on one side while the traffic passes, then it’s your turn to go through the tunnel. And no, there was no accident or calamity, it’s always that way.
The other thing I can tell you (again) is the scenery is beautiful! Check this out…
Once we got to downtown Anchorage, we were hungry for lunch. We walked over to Humpy’s Great Alaskan Ale House.
Unfortunately, I wouldn’t recommend it for the food. It seemed to have a cool bar atmosphere though and the brownie sundae dessert was really good.
We then walked through the city and saw some cool statues, including Balto the famous sled dog.
We made our way to the Anchorage Museum. Unfortunately, we didn’t think we had enough time to really enjoy the museum so we passed on it. We did visit the gift shop though, which was actually quite nice.
Then we went outside to the lawn area and had a little fun!
My most favorite part of Anchorage beside the reindeer jerky they sell in street carts were the beautiful flowers…everywhere!
It must be all that summer sunlight!
Before we knew it, our time was over and it was off to the airport for our overnight flight home.
Exhausting..but it was all so worth it!
